It was unsurprising that when the two arrived at the tavern on the ground floor of Port Failure, all eyes were on them. The place was filled with adventurers that early morning of various skills and talents, each of them either enjoying a hearty breakfast or preparing to bid farewell to the companionship they had the night before. As they stepped foot on the ale-stained stone, Tess gazed from side to side, studying as many others as she could with narrow lights in her lenses. There were humans, a few Daru, a table of gaunt-looking elves, and the shaggy-haired dwarf Simon that guarded the entrance the previous night, all of whom had instantly turned to see the pair as they arrived.

Tess could hardly blame them, as much as she hated the attention. The only thing more rare than a Felpin in the Homestead was a Stodar, and to see the two of them together was a genuine once in a lifetime opportunity, especially considering the relatively short life expectancy of any adventurer that wasted their morning hours getting drunk. While the Felpin were regarded with a passive acceptance, at least from Tess’ own experiences amongst the farmers of the Homestead, it wasn’t surprising for her to see outright adoration in the eyes of everyone that looked at Warmaster K’la.

It was generally accepted, at least from what Tess had gleaned over the months listening to bar rumors and chatter, that if a Stodar rolled into town, they had free rein of whatever they desired - partly for fear of the tremendous strength they had on offer, and partly out of a deep-seated respect and tacet belief that they were always acting in the best interest of the common people. After all, they weren’t known to harass farmers or peasants, and there were plenty of rumors abound of a powerful, heavily armored green warrior slipping into town and pulling out the most decayed roots of the local criminal underground.

As Tess shuffled her shoulders from side to side, bristling them up near the sides of her head, she could practically feel accusatory eyes resting on her. If these drunks weren’t so terrified of the one-armed Warmaster looming behind her, they’d no doubt be whispering, speculating on just what it was this Felpin did, what horrible crime she committed in order to earn a Stodar’s ire. It was enough to make her close her fist to her stomach anew as she winced within her wrappings. So much for Battlebitch assuming she just left in the middle of the night. No doubt that big brute of a woman would hear the stories of her old companion escorted from the premises by a legitimate Warmaster and spend the rest of her days believing
